Johannesburg - Braamfontein streets were buzzing this past Freedom Day as music and Budweiser lovers converged at Shine Studios to experience the brand’s first BUDX music and fashion experience. The usually industrial Shine Studio was turned into an icon night club meets fashion space which showcased some of the best talent Mzansi has to offer. Headlined by international DJ - Black Coffee, supported by Shimza, Distruction Boys, Goodluck and Lamiez Holworthy. The event really lived up to expectations and set the pace for the highly anticipated BudX collaboration platform. The star studded line up was also supported with a surprise which saw fashion houses - Ri.ch Factory, Otiz Seflo and Ntando_XV create cool street wear capsule collections which were given away to consumers on the night. “As designers we are often looking for opportunities to showcase our brands, and the BudXRi.chFactory collection was the perfect platform to showcase our latest street wear collection. We really were excited to receive such amazing reception and feedback from the guests, as it showcased that we are on the right track,” said founder and designer of Ri.ch Factory, Rina Chunga. Over the next few months Budweiser will roll out a series of cultural collaborations aimed at giving young South African creatives the platforms to showcase their talent, and the opportunity to meet with industry greats who can also help them take their talent to the next level. Spotted amongst guests were radio duo Mantsoe Pout & Zweli Mbele, actress Khanya Mkangisa, television presenter Tshego Koke and fashion blogger Ricci-Lee Kalish. Also in attendance were also some noticeable faces from the fashion, music and creatives arts industries including fashion designer Sylvester Falata and DJ Sabby. If BudX aimed to provide a space for Mzansi’s growing music scene to engage with each other in a relaxed setting, free-flowing Buds and an awesome party – it did just that!
ULTRA SOUTH AFRICA The highlight of South Africa's dance music calendar, ULTRA SOUTH AFRICA has come and gone, leaving Ultranauts reeling with what was by far the biggest and most mind-blowing ULTRA the country has ever seen. Ultra South Africa has just smashed all previous attendance records and reminded the local market how phenomenal this global music brand truly is! 50, 000 excited electronic music lovers streamed through the gates at the Ostrich Ranch, and Nasrec over the weekend, making Ultra South Africa 2019 the biggest Ultra South Africa the country has seen! On Friday 1st March Capetonians were blown away by the magnitude of the event (back at the Ostrich Ranch and in its natural, festival-style habitat), the level of production, the sound, the diversity of the acts, and the sheer energy of the event and the beauty of the Ultra Angels – both local and from overseas. From the proudly local sounds of artists from Dean FUEL, to No Method, to Shimza and Black Coffee on RESISTANCE, to the insane energy of Infected Mushroom, Vini Vici and Martin Garrix, to the impact of the Chainsmokers LIVE set, Capetonians were blown away! Joburg was next up on Saturday 2nd March and the new layout and overall event production smashed all expectations. Each stage there upped its game from previous years and crowds were treated to performances and production the likes of which had never been experienced before. The Samsung Galaxy stage was packed from start to finish, the new Until Until stage didn’t quieten for a minute, and RESISTANCE had a spell on its audience all day and night, with Black Coffee’s set a standout for all that witnessed it. All attendees of both shows were kept safe all night with not one incident reported, making Ultra South Africa 2019 a massive entertainment highlight on SA’s music calendar. Ultra SA 2019 was presented by Samsung and 5FM and sponsored by: Budwesier and Red Bull.
